Saeed Mohammed Al Raqbani is an exceptional personality by every measure, on whom no two people disagree. His giving is abundant, his presence distinguished; he gives without reminding others of his favours or causing hurt. His smile precedes him, his calm distinguishes him and his giving speaks for him. Despite his well-known giving in many fields and areas, he works with the silence of the wise and discerning, who does not seek the glitter of the media or the clamour of attention, seeking in everything he does to serve his homeland with love, sincerity and dedication.
Saeed Mohammed Al Raqbani has been Special Advisor to H.H. the Ruler of Fujairah since 2006, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Fujairah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fujairah Charity Association since 1987, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fujairah Foundation for Regions Development, and a member of the Board of Trustees of Ajman University. Before that, he was Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries between 1977 and 2006, and held many other leadership positions, in addition to his membership of the Federal National Council representing the Emirate of Fujairah between 1972 and 1977. The marks he has left, and continues to leave, bear witness to his sincerity, diligence, perseverance and work for the good of the homeland and its people.
His humanitarian and community journey is rich with boundless giving, marked by love, respect and appreciation of others, and loyalty to everyone who has known him and knows him.
Charitable work runs in his veins like blood; that is why you see him never resting in generosity and giving, and in devising ways and means to help people and ease their burdens, through Fujairah Charity Association, or through acts of kindness and goodness so discreet that his left hand does not know what his right hand has spent.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, once said of him: “He is one of the citizens sincere to his homeland, and one of the men who contributed to the establishment of the Union. He is a distinguished leader with long and deep experience of the workings of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (formerly), having invested 39 years of administrative experience in the Ministry, the benefits of which were reflected in many areas. He is also distinguished by his good character, his strong national spirit, his humility, his diligence and his hard work.”
I can find nothing more beautiful to describe him than what his lifelong friend, Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation, said in a press interview: “Speaking about him is a difficult task, because he has lived a broad life for his homeland, for public service and for the people he worked with. He is a man and a statesman of the highest calibre, the essence of a unique personality: humble, cultured, loving to do good for those he knows and those he does not, giving sound advice, wise, keeping ties of kinship, sincere in his feelings, and most importantly of all, he has devoted his life to serving the homeland.”
