As part of the initiatives of the Year of Preparing for the Next 50, Fujairah Charity Association launched a new initiative within the initiatives of the Hifz Al Neama project, in the presence of H.E. Saeed Al Raqbani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, H.E. Mohammed Ali Al Mulla, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Yousef Rashid Al Marshoudi, Acting Director of the Association, Mr. Khalid Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhani, Director of the Fujairah branch of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and officials of the Public Health Section at Fujairah Municipality.
Following the launch of the initiative, Al Raqbani stated that the Association began implementing the Hifz Al Neama project in 2004 at the initiative and with the support of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, may God protect him. The project aims to collect surplus food from weddings and events and distribute it to the poor.
Al Raqbani added that the initiative launched today comes as part of the initiatives of the Hifz Al Neama project and the expansion of the services it provides, by equipping 60 sites, a number that may increase, at most mosques in the Emirate of Fujairah and Dibba, in residential neighbourhoods and communities. Each site includes a water cooler and a refrigerator equipped to receive food, bearing instructions on health requirements, with a total of (120) refrigerators for preserving food and water coolers.
The sites were chosen to adjoin the outer walls of the mosques facing the street. The project benefits everyone regardless of their nationality or religion, and its purpose is to spread a culture of preserving surplus food in homes, to educate young generations, and to raise people's awareness and encourage them to preserve surplus food and offer it to those in need by storing it in the Hifz Al Neama refrigerators.
It is worth noting that the total number of meals distributed to the poor and needy since the start of the Hifz Al Neama project at the Association in 2004 until 2019 reached (6,720,410) meals, of which (620,410) were distributed in 2019.
