H.E. Saeed Al Raqbani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fujairah Charity Association, affirmed that Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, which falls on the nineteenth of Ramadan every year, entrenches the values of giving and tolerance instilled and nurtured by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, and has reinforced the standing of the United Arab Emirates as a pioneer of humanitarian work at the regional and global levels, especially as it coincides this year with the (One Billion Meals) initiative, the largest in the region, organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives to provide food to the needy and the poor in 50 countries.
Al Raqbani added that the Association is taking part in marking Zayed Humanitarian Work Day by launching a set of initiatives that included: fulfilling 50 wishes for 50 orphaned children among the Association's children, providing financial assistance to People of Determination from groups in need, providing for the needs of senior citizens, widows and divorced women, and training and qualifying 13 young women from among People of Determination in the sewing project.
Al Raqbani noted that the Association encouraged 22 productive families to take part in the Iftar for fasting people (Iftar Saem) project and entrusted them with implementing part of the project, at a rate of 2,322 meals per day, of which 1,622 meals come from families in Fujairah and 700 meals from families in Dibba Al Fujairah, totalling 70,000 iftar meals throughout the month, with the meals subject to safety and security requirements in home kitchens.
He also pointed to the Association's contribution during the month of Ramadan by providing and delivering basic food needs to the homes of 2,000 families eligible for assistance, in the Ramadan Provisions (Al Meer) project.
Al Raqbani said: In these blessed days, we pray for mercy and forgiveness for Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, and we strive to honour and consolidate the values of loyalty and giving that Sheikh Zayed, may God rest his soul, instilled in the hearts of the people of the UAE and the residents on its land, noting that celebrating this occasion by launching charitable and humanitarian initiatives instils in the community the principles of the late Sheikh, founded on tolerance, goodness, coexistence and giving, under the umbrella of our wise leadership.
